7.10.24 Author Visit - Sophie Bresnahan

We were so excited to meet Sophie, author of the debut children's story, The Mouse and the Mushroom Blooms. We were lucky enough to have her visit us in our library which is also mushroom themed! We had a look at some of the characters before reading and learned some new vocabulary along the way such as 'fungi' and 'spores'.

She read us the story wearing a beautiful mushroom hat and we thoroughly enjoyed the adventure the mouse had in the forest. We discussed the story afterwards and couldn't choose our favourite part as we loved it so much -we even decided to have a group hug! Sophie kindly brought us some colouring pages from the story which we eagerly coloured in. We love our library sessions and reading, what a fantastic visit!

9.9.24 Stunning Start!

To launch our Marvellous Me topic, we brought in photographs of our families to share. We discussed lots of people who are very special to us and what they do to care for us. We really enjoyed celebrating each of our unique families and learning about each others. No two families are the same but each is full of love. We even had a mini disco to show how special we truly are!

Class Information

School Uniform

It has been wonderful to see the Reception children settling in beautifully, arriving in smart St Josephs uniform. Please ensure this continues and that every item is named! Uniform is available via the school website and school office.

P.E

St Anne's Class have P.E on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Children require a green t-shirt, black shorts, trainers/plimsolls and long trousers for the colder weather. Please note that long hair must be tied back and earrings taken out or covered in best interests of health and safety. P.E uniform is also available via the school website and school office.

Home reading and Reading Diaries

Reading with your child is not only a wonderful bonding experience, it supports their brain and language development, boosts self-esteem and aids better socio-emotional skills. Please read with your child as much as possible. Please leave a short comment about the suitability of the level of book, discussions and your child’s phonics knowledge.

Reading books and Library books must be returned on Monday morning so we can issue your child with new ones. We will visit the Library every Monday afternoon. Reading Diaries will be checked regularly.

Thank you parents and carers!

We really do appreciate your support!

A Warm Welcome to Reception!

I am thrilled to welcome you and am very excited to begin your child's educational journey in St Anne's class. I feel honoured to be your child's teacher this year and please be assured that Miss Evans and I will do our very best to ensure they are safe and happy at all times; we look forward to seeing them flourish and building close bonds with them all. If you have any questions about your child's learning, please do not hesitate to check-in before or after school. Check this web page regularly for updates from inside the classroom!

I look forward to a great year ahead!
